At The Pleasure of Your Company, we read lots of wedding magazines, style magazines, books, and blogs to keep up with what's new - the colors, the ideas, the food, the trends that are inspiring brides when they plan their weddings.
So this is the first in a series of posts about what we think might be starting to show up at 2012 weddings, and what might be done in a new and different way. It will be interesting to see where we hit it and where we miss.
Did you know that marshmallows are going gourmet? Those cute, puffy, white pillows that we buy in a plastic bag at the grocery store and put in a mug of cocoa are getting a major makeover. We first saw them at Stone Mill Bakery and The Nut Farm here at Green Spring Station, but then they popped up in magazines.
These photos are from the January 16th issue of People Magazine: deep-fried bubblegum-infused marshmallows by Justin Martinez which won the Most Creative Prize at the 2011 Texas State Fair, red velvet marshmallows from Primehouse in Chicago, chocolate and rosemary flavored marshmallows from New York's Three Tarts Bakery, and gingerbread spice marshmallows from Plush Puffs. Another featured marshmallow that sounded yummy was the S'More marshmallow - filled with peanut butter, chocolate and toffee chips - available from Madyson's Marshmallows.
So what do you think: are they a curiosity or will plates like this show up at weddings?
